Songs of the day: “Oh! My Goddess”; “Love Love Love”
So I’ve been doing weekly MuBank recaps for Seoulbeats as of late. I’m not really sure what inspired me to take on such a task, because I’ve never been a big music show follower, but I thought it’d be worth a shot.
Needless to say, recent performances have not given me a great impression of music shows. If anything, most “live” performances are just testaments to the declining vocal talent and ability showcased by rookie singers. What happened to, like, being on pitch while prancing around the stage doing kinda-fancy choreography? Is that not the one thing that pop stars are supposed to be good at?
Figures that the two best songs from recent promos are by rock bands.
TRAX – “Oh! My Goddess”:
FT Island – “사랑 사랑 사랑”:
The song structures of both pieces are surprisingly weak, almost to the point of distraction. But hey, they’re catchy and the lead vocals actually maintain some sort of pitch integrity during performances, so I can’t complain.
Urgh. At this point I don’t even know what to classify as “good K-pop” anymore. The golden era truly has passed. ;_;
